Literature Text

Can't you see the sunlight, dear?
All it wants is to brighten up your life.
Dry your eyes, please don't cry.

I know about the things they've said;
I know what it's doing to you.
It's torture to see you this way.

Ignore those that say you're no good;
they don't know true worth when they see it,
and what I see, is priceless.

Look up, raise your eyes to the sky.
There is an end to this night.
See the stars, how they shine for you?

Look, up on the horizon!
There's the most special star of them all.
It's the Sun, and it woke just for you.

Can't you see the sunlight, dear?
There's an end to this night, I swear it.
I'll be your Sun, I'll be your light.
I wrote two versions of this poem (sorta) for the LGBTQ(PAP+) project for June, aka Pride Month.
